The fact that Carr didn’t develop the character of the Filipino man beyond that of a cardboard box is a huge failure of craft. Clarence Darrow was a master of legal argumentation, even if I’m not an expert on legal matters, on the contrary. This review was written in the late nineties just for myselfand it was buried in amongst my things until today, when I uncovered the journal it was written in. If we succeed in bringing Libby Hatch to trial, caoeb won’t be just the outrage of the humble citizens in town like Ballston Spa that we’ll have to deal with.
