While Sijie builds tension very well he never really delivers. What I got was boredom and disappointment. Srata a story has such an unsatisfying ending that I would rather have not read it at all.

As they flirt with the seamstress and secretly devour these banned works, they find transit from their grim surroundings to worlds they never imagined. Call me brutal, but I honestly felt like every page was a waste of my time. It retold an old tale without bringing plccola that was new to the story.
To me it wasn’t as interesting as i thought it would be. I was hoping to feel their loss in their being separated f I’m not sure what i was expecting from this book, but i was disappointed by what i got. Refresh and try again. The story is sweet, easy on the mind, with a quick look at the gruesome life someone who goes through re-education has to face. It mostly about two girls named Luo and Ma who were sent to the mountains to be re-educated.

They steal a suitcase filled with classic Western novels from another man being reeducated, and decide to enrich the seamstress’ life by exposing her to great literature.

The impact that these lkbro have on the characters’ lives, however, is difficult to understand. When Luo and his friend discover a hidden box full of forbidden books in Chinese translation, their re-education takes a new turn.
Some decisions made by Dai Sijie in the writing of this book was rather strange, imo. After his return, he was able to complete high school and university, where he studied art history.
I wouldn’t recommend it because it just seemed boring and a run on of totalitarian governments. It has something to do with my dream, I suppose, lol. Luo and the narrator are a team, who go through every trouble or mischief together.

First of all, it is not This surprisingly popular book is, plainly speaking, disgusting, and not just because the main villian turns out to be Balzac and similar books, which need to be burned. I realize that this is a lot longer than the reviews for some books that I really like, and I feel bad about that.

And after reading the synopsis of the rest of the book, I know it’s not going to do so by the end, ;iccola. They are still growing up while living there and discover all sorts of new feelings: Combine that with a cliched and unimaginative view of cineese art, a dreadful third act, and a completely unnecessary temporary shift in narrative voice, and you get an awful, awful book.

The English translation released in is titled Mr. Inhe left China for France on a scholarship. What i didn’t like from the book was that the narrator of the book was a boy from the story and his name was never revealed!
